Questions We Get Asked A Lot
Hopefully, this section answers any other questions you may have, we are always adding to it following feedback from our students. If you do have a question that isn’t listed here you can always contact us.
Each module, on all of our courses, there is an element of practical work, where we can observe, advise and guide our students to improve their abilities. You will also see volunteer clients, known as placement clients, throughout the course. In the counselling courses this starts on the Level 3 course and with the hypnotherapy course this starts from module 3. After each session, we ask you to spend a couple of minutes reflecting on that session in your client case note logs. This develops better self-awareness and gives you the opportunity to set achievable development goals for yourself.
When students are seeing clients each module they will receive group supervision on the Saturday morning. This enables each student to discuss, with your tutors and peers, challenges and successes with your placement clients from the previous module.
During the hypnotherapy course there is a video presentation of your ‘initial consultation’, which you have 2-4 months to prepare for. This will be part of your written portfolio, which you have several months to complete . This portfolio forms part of your accreditation qualification.
On the counselling courses there is a similar format for portfolios, but instead of a video of your IC there will be a recording of a counselling session.
Yes, we encourage all of our students to practise the therapeutic techniques taught, this practise time contributes to your study time and becomes part of your portfolio.
The Ayurva weekend course are delivered on a Saturday and Sunday. For example our face to face and hybrid hypnotherapy courses require 120 face to face hours have to be attended for the course accreditation and for your qualifications.
In short, yes. There are no entry requirements to start training other than some medical requirements. Anyone can become a hypnotherapist, however it is not just learning how to put someone into trance. Being a really successful hypnotherapist is about a desire to help people and a willingness to undertake a journey of self-growth and understanding. At Ayurva we help you along the way with your journey.
At Ayruva we understand that issues arise from time to time and life or work can prevent students from attending a module. If this happens talk to your tutor as we can help. You either made the module up at a later date, or your tutor can arrange a one to one to cover the curriculum that you missed.
Whilst you are studying to be either a counsellor or hypnotherapist with Ayurva you will not be able to say you are a qualified hypnotherapist or counsellor. However, during your studies on you will be working with real clients as part of your clinical hours. You will be doing this because it is impossible to learn how to effectively help people without actually doing it. At various points during your training, because each course is different, you will be encouraged to find volunteer clients.
During your training your tutor acts like your supervisor, making sure you and your clients remain safe throughout the process.
If you want to become a counsellor or hypnotherapist and have a rewarding career as a professional clinical hypnotherapist or counsellor we encourage you to do your own research.
At Ayurva we have a variety of ways you can train to become an internationally accredited counsellor or hypnotherapist. This ranges from on-line only courses you can do at your own pace, hybrid courses that are tutor led modules over the internet to face to face modules in one of our schools.
If you want to become a counsellor or hypnotherapist we recommend that you do not just pick a course that looks quick, cheap and easy. In the long run this will not help you as it will not provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge to become a competent professional therapist. Pick a course that gives people the best and safest results and seems respected by the industry as a whole. Also, you will want your training to give you enough practical experience so that you are competent, safe and confident enough to start practising as a professional counsellor or hypnotherapist when you qualify.
Our hypnotherapy course is ten modules delivered over one year. Our counselling courses are broken down into ‘Levels’. Students start at level 2, then complete level 3 and then level 4. To become a qualified professional counsellor normally takes 4 years.
Each of the Ayurva courses consist of different things. If you are interested in a particular course simply download its prospectus and read it at your leisure. All of our prospectus’ are free and we promise we will not bombard you with sales calls and emails like some academies.
If you have any questions regarding any particular course please feel free to either email or call us.
Absolutely! One of the many strengths of Ayurva training is that our students are required to practice with real clients. This enables you to learn valuable skills and be supervised to the highest standard whilst your training.
Throughout all of our courses, our tutors are available to provide supervision for students. This involves feedback sessions within course modules as well as being available to answer any client-related questions that occur between course modules. In addition to this, students are required to have insurance in place to cover their clinical work. Information on how to arrange this is provided by the tutors on the courses.
At Ayurva we are passionate about your success. Building a successful practice is a module in our hypnotherapy course and during level 4 of the counselling course. Also, when you are ready you are encouraged to join our CPT programme which holds regular courses to help you build a successful practice
You certainly will, whilst training and postgraduate support is available through our ‘HUB’
