Student Feedback Policy

Principles

Ayurva Academy actively seeks and encourages students to share their views. Our approach aims to create openness, responsiveness and a sense of partnership.  To this end, feedback from students is essential to inform the development of our courses and to help shape all aspects of students’ learning and broader experience.

How feedback is received

One of the key mechanisms for obtaining student feedback and insights is via the Ayurva Academy student surveys framework. Collectively these surveys provide a core set of data and benchmarks to inform enhancement and activity and support monitoring and evaluation.

In addition to day-to-day dialogue between students and staff, feedback is received from students in more formal settings. These include:

  • Tutor end of lesson IQA feedback form
  • End of course student feedback form
  • Annual student (past and present) central survey campaign

Central survey campaign

Ayurva Academy also regularly invites students to participate in anonymous surveys (Appendix 1). The central surveys take place in a single ‘survey window’ once a year. This takes place in collaboration with the course tutors.

Through emails from course tutors to past and present students, Ayurva Academy invites students to participate in one programme-related survey per year. This approach is to minimise survey fatigue as well as to target the most relevant feedback from our students to monitor and enhance their experience.

Upon receiving these tutor emails all students are invited to participate in an online evaluation and feedback survey. Ayurva Academy operates a common question set for annual central survey so that we are consistent in how we monitor the quality of our taught programmes. The survey questions are designed to gather constructive feedback directly from students so we can understand what worked well on their course and what could be improved in future.

End of lesson and/or Module evaluation takes place in addition to informal check-in discussions that may take place between students and staff during a module. Should any urgent matters occur during the module, these should be raised immediately with the Senior Management Team, so that a resolution can be discussed as soon as possible

Consideration of Feedback

Feedback from students will comprise both positive experiences and areas for development. Where actions need to be taken, the nature of the feedback will indicate who needs to address this.

Day-to-day matters relating to programme content and delivery will normally be addressed by the tutors and Senior Management Team. Broader issues may require management action at Departmental, individual School or academy level. The Senior Management Team meetings is the main forum where all student feedback is discussed between staff and students. Where feedback indicates that actions are required beyond the tutors, these will be referred.

All feedback and associated actions, including those that will be undertaken beyond the tutors, will be recorded, tracked and monitored within the SMT Actions List. This rolling document will be used throughout the year as the definitive programme development plan. It makes provision for identification of issues, proposed action that will be taken, who is responsible for taking the action and when it is likely to be achieved.
